| A Walk Across Tabuk Island | |||
| The Lookout Tower on Tabuk Island is a symbol of the town's determination to maintain the integrity of the Marine Preserve. This photo was taken before the boardwalk was built. | ![]() |

| After we disembarked at the pier, we began to travel this bamboo boardwalk to the interior of the island. | ![]() |
||
| There has been an extensive program to reforest the island. Many growing seedlings are visible along the way. . | ![]() |
||
| On the way across the island there are two way stations where one can rest and observe the flora and fauna of the island interior | ![]() |
||
| Numerous small fish can be seen in the shallow
water, darting to shelter when threatened.

| It is about a quarter mile to the sea side of the island. Here there is a large shelter with vegetation around it. | ![]() |
||
| This shelter allows viewing of an area where migrating birds may be observed without scaring them away | ![]() |
||
| Since we did not plan this trip for
birdwatching, we will return another time favorable to this activity.

We made our way back across the island to the tower, where we climbed the steps to view the area. Looking across the water toward town, dark clouds are building over the hills. |

| Looking to the north from the tower, one can barely see the bats in the tops of trees. That area is free of human activity, and the bats have thrived there. After this walk we took a small boat around to the island to the north, where a guide took us in range of the roosting area. At the bottom of this page is a link to the bat excursion, and photos of bats. | ![]() |
